Worldview and knowledge
Worldview is your project's story bible — the logline, core issue, rules and any entries you add — and Scenaloom AI reads it before it answers. Knowledge holds reference files, such as research, a treatment or an earlier draft, that the AI can draw excerpts from.
What goes in Worldview
A script project's Worldview starts with a logline and a core issue. Add an entry for anything the story depends on: a magic system, how a town works, the rules of a game show, who answers to whom in a company. Name each entry and write it in plain prose. Drag cards to reorder them, rename your own entries or remove them. Changes save automatically.
Start from a template
Start from a template adds a set of official entries written by Scenaloom:
- Short drama — a series bible for vertical short drama: logline, premise, audience, world rules, protagonist, antagonist, key relationships, opening hook, episode rhythm, cliffhangers, tone and production notes.
- Feature film — a development bible: logline, premise, genre, tone, central question, protagonist arc, antagonist, structure, key sequences, visual language, themes and production notes.
Entries you have already written keep their text when you add a template, and template entries keep their names.
Story Bible in novel projects
A novel's Story Bible covers genre; style, with point of view, tense and a voice you can start from Spare, Lyrical, Wry or Suspense or describe from a page of your own prose; a synopsis; worldbuilding; and elements such as places, objects, groups, lore and history, magic or technology, and clues. Draft with AI and Refine with AI suggest text you can use or ignore. The AI reads this page before it writes a line of your novel.
Uploading files to the knowledge base
- Open Story bible in the project's left rail, then Knowledge.
- Choose Upload a file, or give a blank document a title and write it in place.
- Wait for Processing document… to finish; the file then appears under Files.
- Formats: text, Markdown, Fountain, CSV, JSON, PDF and DOCX.
- Limits: 10 MB per file, PDFs up to 200 pages and DOCX text up to 2 MB. Text past 200,000 characters is marked as truncated.
- Scanned PDFs need OCR first, because Scenaloom reads text, not pictures of text.
How the AI uses them
Project AI uses excerpts from up to 8 of the most recently added non-empty documents: up to 4,000 characters each and 16,000 in total, so a reply may not cover a whole library. Keep the files the AI should lean on short and current, and delete old ones. For a single conversation, attach files to the chat instead — see Advisors and files.
