What Scenaloom is

Scenaloom is online screenwriting software that runs in your web browser, for screenplays, series and novels. The draft you write is the single source of truth for everything else in a project: scenes, characters, locations, the outline, boards and production views are read from the script, not kept as separate copies.

The product in one minute

  • Write in an editor that knows screenplay elements — scene heading, action, character, parenthetical, dialogue, transition, shot — so margins, capitals and page breaks take care of themselves.
  • Plan with an outline, a beat board that can start from a three-act structure, a fifteen-beat sheet or a hero's journey, and a scene board that stays in step with the script.
  • Ask Scenaloom AI about a line, a scene, a selection or the whole draft. It proposes changes; you decide what to apply.
  • Write with other people in real time, with roles, comments, @mentions and version history.
  • Turn scenes into shot lists, storyboard frames, posters and short video takes with credits, and see the cost before anything runs.

The draft is the single source of truth

Write INT. HARBOR OFFICE - NIGHT and a card appears on the scene board, a row appears in the scene list and the harbor office appears on the Locations page. Type a name as a character cue and that character gets a page with their scene and dialogue counts. Rename the character on that page and every cue in every episode follows. Nothing has to be copied from one view to another, so nothing drifts out of date.

What you can write

  • Screenplays — a film (one episode) or a series (as many episodes as you need), in the Hollywood layout or the Asian layout for Chinese, Japanese and Korean scripts.
  • Novels — chapters, a chapter board, a story bible, a cover and a story canvas, with AI tools to continue, rewrite, describe, expand, suggest ideas and give feedback.
  • Video projects — reels of 5 to 15 seconds, each with its own shot list, generated takes and a multi-track timeline.

How the views connect

Each episode of a script has four writing views — Script, Outline, Storyboard and Scenes — and the project has pages for characters, locations, props, worldview, knowledge, advisors, production and generated media. Every view reads the same draft. Move a scene in the scene list and the script reorders. Add shots to a scene and they show in the storyboard and the shot list export. Lock scene numbers and the editor, the scene list and the PDF print the same numbers.

What Scenaloom does not do

It does not publish or share anything unless you choose to, and the AI never edits your pages without an explicit apply step that is recorded in history. There is no desktop download and no offline mode: Scenaloom runs in current Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on Mac, Windows, Linux and Chromebook, and in the browser on phones and tablets. If your connection drops mid-scene, unsaved changes are kept on the device and saved when it comes back.
