Storyboards and shots

A shot list in Scenaloom belongs to the scene it shoots: open Storyboard, add shots under a scene heading, set size, angle, movement and lens, and draw or upload a frame for each shot. The same shots feed the shot list, the canvas view and the Storyboard Sheet export.

From scene to shots

  1. Open Storyboard in the episode's writing views. Shots are grouped under each scene heading.
  2. Choose + Shot, or Add the first shot, and describe what the shot shows.
  3. Or choose Suggest shots on a scene, read the suggestions and keep them with Add these shots.
  4. Open a shot in the Shot studio to set its details. Previous shot and Next shot save as you go.

Shot fields

  • Shot number — leave it empty to use the automatic number.
  • Size: Wide, Medium, Close-up, Extreme close-up, Over-the-shoulder or POV.
  • Angle: Eye level, Low angle, High angle, Dutch angle, Bird's-eye or Worm's-eye.
  • Movement: Static, Pan, Tilt, Dolly in, Dolly out, Hand tracking, Crane or Zoom.
  • Lens, duration in seconds, camera notes and a performance note — what the actor does or feels in this frame.

Storyboard frames

Each shot can hold a frame. Upload an image (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 10 MB), or choose Draw frame to generate one from the shot's description; the cost in credits shows on the button, and Redraw frame tries again. A shot needs a description before it can be drawn.

Three views of the same shots

  • Storyboard — frames in order, scene by scene, with a time bar of shot lengths.
  • Shot List — every shot in a table for planning.
  • Canvas — frames laid out on a board. Arrange shots in order lines them up again; arrow keys move between shots, Enter opens the studio and Delete removes a shot, which you can undo right after.

Export for the crew

From Export, choose Storyboard Sheet and pick the columns: scene, heading, shot, description, size, angle, movement, lens, duration, performance note and picture link. Download CSV for a spreadsheet, or PDF or Word to print. Tables don't embed images, so the picture column carries each frame's link.

Production reels

For generated video, the Production view turns scenes into reels of 5 to 15 seconds, each with its own shot list and direction. See Generated assets and video.
