Comments and version history
Version history in Scenaloom keeps named and automatic versions of your script that you can preview, compare with the current draft and restore. Comments let collaborators discuss a line, a scene or the board without touching the text.
Comments and threads
- Choose Add comment (+) in the script header, then click the line you want to comment on.
- Write the comment. Type @ to mention a collaborator.
- Add up to four images (PNG, JPEG or WebP), or attach a document — text, Markdown, Fountain, CSV, JSON, DOCX or PDF.
- Reply in the thread, and resolve it when it's done.
Lines with open threads show a count beside them. You can also comment on the scene board, and send a comment to Scenaloom AI to help draft a reply. Project settings › Comments lists every comment in the project.
Version history
Open Version history from the project menu and save a named version, such as First draft, with a note on what changed. Scenaloom also keeps automatic versions, which are managed by a retention policy and can't be renamed or deleted. AI changes you apply are recorded too.
Compare and restore
Preview a version to compare it with your current draft: the lines added and removed are counted and highlighted, with unchanged lines folded away. Restore this version brings it back. In a script, each version restores only the episode it recorded. In a novel, restoring replaces all chapters with the saved version. In a video project, restoring first saves a recovery version of the current film.
Revision marks
For production rewrites, turn on Revision in the Writing panel to see which lines changed since a saved version as you write. When you export a PDF or text file, Revision marks… adds a revision color (Blue, Pink, Yellow and onward), marks changed lines with an asterisk in the right margin, shows the revision in each page header and can print revised pages only.
Trash
A project moved to Trash can be restored for 30 days; after that it is deleted permanently. Only the owner can move a project to Trash.
