What credits buy
A storyboard frame, poster or character picture: 25 credits
A 10-second video shot: 65 credits, then 10 for each extra second
A read-through of a scene: 90 credits
Writing never uses credits. AI chats and writing cards come with your plan each month.
These are the prices on our standard models; others can cost more. You always see the exact cost before anything is spent, and a generation that fails gives its credits back.
On every plan, the viewers and commenters you invite are free.
Questions about free screenwriting software and plans
Do I need a card to start?
No. The Free plan needs no payment details, and you can upgrade whenever you need more.
What are credits for?
Credits pay for image, video and audio generation. The cost is shown before you generate, and credits for a generation that fails are returned automatically. AI chats and writing cards use your monthly allowance instead. Daily credits reset at midnight UTC and don't roll over; credits you buy never expire.
Do credits expire?
Credits you buy never expire. Daily credits don't roll over: whatever is left of them expires at midnight UTC, when the next day's arrive. Other credits aren't affected.
Can I get a refund?
A generation that fails, is declined or takes too long gives its credits back automatically. Within 14 days of buying a credit pack you can refund the credits from it you haven't used, from Settings → Billing. A plan you cancel stays active until the end of the period you've paid for and isn't renewed. For anything else, write to support@scenaloom.com.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, from your Account page. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so you keep your plan until then. Your projects stay yours and editable; on the Free plan a script past its line limit can be shortened but not lengthened.
Do collaborators need a paid plan?
No. Viewers and commenters you invite are always free, on every plan. Each person's AI chats and credits come from their own account, and a project's limits, such as script length on the Free plan, follow its owner's plan.
How much does yearly billing save?
Yearly plans cost 20% less than paying monthly for twelve months.
Who owns what I write?
You do, on every plan. Export your work at any time as Final Draft (.fdx), plain text, Markdown or PDF.
