AI writing tools and dialogue generator

Scenaloom's AI writing tools work on one passage at a time: in a script they rewrite, expand or describe a line of action or dialogue, and in a novel they continue, rewrite, describe, expand, suggest ideas and give feedback. Each result arrives as a card you can apply, insert, copy or discard. They are not an AI dialogue generator that writes scenes for you: each tool works on a line you already have.

In a script

  1. Put the cursor in an action or dialogue line, or select words in it.
  2. Open Scenaloom AI and, under AI writing tools, choose how to change the line.
  3. Press Rewrite, Expand or Describe. You can also select text and choose Rewrite (action or dialogue) or Describe (action) from the menu over the selection.

Rewrite modes

  • Rephrase: the same meaning in other words.
  • Tighter: fewer words for the same beat.
  • More tension: more pressure in the line.
  • More visual: favor what the camera can see.
  • In voice: closer to how this character speaks.
  • Subtext: the line says less than it means.
  • Custom…: your own instruction, such as "Make it funnier without changing what happens".

Describe and Expand

Describe adds description in one of four modes: Visual, Sound, Silent beat or Staged. Expand adds detail or beats to the passage.

Use it as an AI dialogue generator

Put the cursor in a dialogue line and choose Rewrite to have the AI dialogue generator write the line again: In voice brings it closer to how that character talks, Subtext makes it say less than it means, and More tension adds pressure. Custom… takes your own direction, such as "She refuses without saying no". Press Try again for another take, and Apply the one that fits; the scene around the line stays as you wrote it.

Writing cards

A writing card tells you whether Apply replaces the line or adds after the selected words. Switch between Changes, which shows removed and added words, and Result. Then choose Apply, Insert at cursor, Copy, Try again or Discard; an applied change goes through undo like any edit. Cards stay in the Writing panel's Cards tab, where you can pin one or copy a version you didn't apply.

In a novel

  • Continue: write on from the cursor, following the story, guided by key details you give, or in a tone such as Tense, Tender, Eerie, Wry, Lyrical, Brisk or Somber.
  • Rewrite: Rephrased, Tighter, More vivid, More literary, Plainer, Show, don't tell, or your own instruction, with an option for three versions.
  • Describe: sensory detail for sight, sound, touch, taste, smell or metaphor.
  • Expand: open a passage out into more scene.
  • Ideas: plot, characters, conflict, setting, dialogue, twists, next scenes, titles or themes, from a seed or a selected passage.
  • Feedback: on story and structure, line by line or on dialogue, for your selection or the whole chapter.
  • Visualize: an illustration of the selected passage or paragraph, which uses credits.

Results appear in the AI results panel, and your chapter changes only when you choose Insert. Ideas and feedback are notes for you, so copy what you want. Creativity can be Steady, Balanced or Bold.

Limits

Each writing card counts against your plan's monthly writing cards — 10 on the Free plan. Keep a selection under 4,000 characters per request. Up to three results can be in progress at once.
